I like empowering women by telling their stories. I love hearing their stories and learning about each and every person. Who are you? What makes you happy, sad, passionate, concerned, strong, weak? If I can capture that connection and emotion in one image, I have shared your story and your beauty and shown it to you. I want to show how everyone is beautiful.
I am most pleased with an image when I've captured the essence of my subject. I want those eyes to be piercing the viewer, making them stay on that image. I want the image to seem haunted, as if it has captured the life of the person in it. Below is an example of an image where I've captured the connection.
Woman are very critical of themselves and we fail to see how beautiful we are to those around us. I want to show you that you are gorgeous for your mind, your heart, your personality, and yes, your appearance. I know this because I am very, very hesitant about getting in front of the camera. I'm very critical of my looks and my work. I've tried a few self-portraits to help put myself in my subject's shoes. While friends and family have told me I look beautiful in the images, I feel weird about it. I have learned that I'm not the only one who feels this way about themselves in pictures.
But the truth is, we are all beautiful in our uniqueness. And when the image captures that, we actually, for that moment, like ourselves. A few talented photographers have taken my portrait, and in those few times, I saw what they saw and I liked myself. Sometimes it takes someone else to point out your own beauty.
