Detroit, MI Fine Art Portraits: Vintage Styling

I love assembling styles. I keep many items in the studio wardrobe so that I can put together different looks for clients. These looks are a combination of studio wardrobe and client jewelry.

I have been asked about styling shoots. What I advise is to stick close to what you love. You'll know instinctively what goes well together when you follow your interest. Don't copy because all it will look like is an imitation. To get a genuine look, style from the heart.

For example, I grew up around victorian images and paintings. My mother loved the Victorian era and I grew up to love it. One of the things my mom loved from that era was cameos. She had several. For these images and the styling, I drew upon my love of all things Victorian, my memories of pictures of my grandparents, memories if Victorian paintings from my home and my grandparent's home, and came up with my version of that influence.
