Here is a new piece from last weekend. Once again, I wanted to tap into emotion and feel within a portrait so I worked with my subjects expression and set the mood setting with external elements, such as the stormy sky.
These two images were created at a last minute change of plans. Our original theme and location fell through, so spur of the moment, I threw this concept together in a different locations.
This theme is extremely personal to me. If you've read my older blog posts, you know that my father lost his sight to macular degeneration. He's doing well, is in good health, and is in great spirits. However, we don't realize how much we rely on our sight until we lose it. While he is doing well now, the initial moment of losing sight was traumatic and terrifying. I wanted to recreate those emotions with this piece.
I've been trying to evoke more emotion in my images. One of the ways I wanted to explore emotion was through body language and lighting. I'm already pretty moody with my lighting setups, so I thought to work in a feceless image with one of my dramatic lighting configurations.
