Michael and I have been wanting to work together for some time. We started a joint blog where we highlight alternative fashion. Originally, we were going to highlight all fashion, but after much thought, we agreed that our hearts lie with alternative fashion and that our blog would suffer if we wrote about fashions about which we weren't passionate. It's not that we don't like fashion. On the contrary, we create a lot of fashion imagery. But both of our styles are more quirky and less mainstream fashion.
We had planned a travel concept for the blog months before we shifted our direction on the blog. We were going to shoot straight fashion editorial images. In the days leading up to the shoot, I decided to apply a surreal theme to one of the locations using the props we had already assembled. Michael and I previously scouted locations so I knew exactly where I wanted to create my "Travel Woes" surreal image.
Our plan for the day was that we each would come to the shoot with ideas for an image using the travel theme. Then while one of us was shooting our idea, the other would assist. I was excited to put this surreal theme to work. We shot the pieces for my surreal idea first, then alternated between shooting and assisting for each image idea following.
The remainder of the shoot went as planned with fabulous work from the entire team.
